1. Hydration: This is the process of providing an adequate amount of water to body tissues to allow them function properly. Drinking enough water is crucial to staying healthy.

Being hydrated also prevents undue fatigue and keeps the muscles working properly. So investing in a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated is definitely not a bad choice after all.



2. Eat healthy: Eating healthy is eating a diet that contains all the classes of food in adequate proportions instead of consuming junk. The classes of food are; carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils, minerals, vitamins and water. Our diet affects our cognitive health in various ways.

Folic acid(a vitamin B found in peas, spinach and oranges) helps improve the memory, Omega-3 fatty acids which are abundant in fatty fish prevents deterioration of memory. Apart from this, a balanced diet provides energy, keeps us warm, protects us from diseases, prevents us from breaking down and increases our ability to think properly.





3. Get enough sleep: Sleep😴 is something everyone has experienced. We sleep almost everyday but sometimes we don’t because we have a project deadline or we aren’t prepared enough for an exam or maybe because of another reason.



However, sleep is essential to one’s cognitive health and one should get a good night rest before every exam. Sleep improves the memory- during sleep, whatever you have learnt while awake is practiced upon through a process called consolidation. A good sleep before an exam makes one active, increases the ability to concentrate and remember what you read.

4. Take breaks: Long periods of study without breaks lead to study burnouts, stress and mind blanks which is definitely not good for you.



Instead take a break after an hour or an hour and a half of study for an effective study and healthy mind

5. Say no to drugs: Yeah, I mean drugs/anything illegal . Do not indulge in drugs just because you have got exams ahead of you.



This also includes stimulants like coffee. Stimulants raise your blood sugar level to the highest but when their effect wears off, your system comes crashing down and you’ll become weak, inactive and perhaps sleepy. Just try to prepare for your exams early enough and you’ll be totally fine without stimulants.



A student can not avoid exams, neither does he need to be scared, he only needs to pass them!
